About the 2018 Annual Conference and Exhibition
Welcome to the Broadmoor for the Private Practice Section’s 2018 Annual Conference and Exhibition! We are delighted to be at the Broadmoor during its Centennial year. The history and reputation of this celebrated destination are a perfect match for our Section’s strong roots and even stronger brand as the place to build business leaders in physical therapy.
Every year this event grows larger and more exciting, and this year is no exception. From the programming to the social events, we offer you a schedule packed with education and networking designed to reignite your passion for business and reconnect you with the friends and colleagues so many of you see year after year.
Never one to rest on our laurels, we’re trying a few new things this year. We have designed the new Buzz Sessions to resemble the Institute of Private Practice Physical Therapy’s famous Graham Sessions and provide a more open forum for the audience and panelists to engage in a less structured, more conversational format. And we’ve replaced the Moderated Networking Sessions of recent years with more free-form table-top discussion areas where you can find other members to connect with on issues affecting your practice or find others who serve your specialty niche. The 90-minute session on Friday morning should give you ample time to walk around and find others who share your interests, challenges, or use the opportunity to learn more about the PPS benefits and resources that are available to all members.
Please share your feedback and thanks this week with the Annual Conference Program Work Group, under the leadership of new Chair Janet Albanese, PT. The Committee reviewed more than 120 proposals to determine the educational content that you would find most useful and relevant to running a successful practice. In addition to the exceptional programming you’ve come to expect—like the Pre-Conference Workshop on Payment Updates for Private Practice, the Administrators Certificate Program (now in its seventh year and attracting more practice administrators than ever), and provocative and inspiring Keynote speakers—you will find a new track on incorporating wellness and prevention services into your practice, and more sessions on payment and billing, alternative business models and services, branding and marketing your practice, and practice operations and strategy.
I would also like to express my gratitude to the exhibitors, sponsors, and PPS Industry Partners who join us. We have more than 150 exhibitors and 26 sponsors with us here this year. The explosive growth in our vendor presence is a testament to the buying power and prestige of the PPS membership. I hope you will spend some time with these important members of the PPS community and investigate the products and services they came here to share with you. The financial support they provide the Section and this event in particular has allowed PPS to keep your conference registration fees and membership dues unchanged for many years. Finally, my deepest thanks are to you, the members of the Private Practice Section, for your continued support of PPS and its programs. This event is for you, made by you, and sustained by your enthusiasm and commitment. Whether you return year after year or are a first-timer, there is something here for everyone and we are so excited for you to find out what’s in store for you.

A message from Annual Conference Program Work Group, Chair Janet Albanese
Welcome to the 2018 Private Practice Section’s Annual Conference & Exhibition!
We’re excited to be back in Colorado Springs and the beautiful Broadmoor, where PPS will occupy 100% of the resort and conference center, a true testament to the growth of the section and the value the conference provides the members. Continuously striving to be innovative and think outside the box, I am thrilled to introduce new programming that meets the needs of our diverse membership.
First, we will offer four brand new “Buzz Sessions” on hot topics in private practice. These “town-hall” style sessions encourage open discussion about thought provoking topics while supporting a greater level of interaction with the experts. Second, last year’s moderated networking sessions have been revamped to the all-new “Solution Rooms,” which provide different areas to explore marketing tools or PPS resources and to network with those with a shared interest, similar practice specialty or comparable practice size.
Don’t miss the powerful and engaging stories of our two keynote speakers. We welcome the first fully qualified female naval aviator to fly an F-14 in the U.S. military, Carey Lohrenz, who will share her “Lessons in Leadership.” We also welcome Chris McChesney, Wall Street Journal #1 National Best Selling Author and one of the primary developers of The 4 Disciplines of Execution, a national bestseller. I trust you will take away many great lessons from each of these dynamic speakers.
Don’t forget to join our exhibitors in the Exhibit Hall throughout the conference. Within the hall, many solutions and tools which can help you overcome your greatest challenges await.
On behalf of the entire Annual Conference Program Work Group, we hope you enjoy this year’s conference and the new programming. Please take the opportunity to speak to me or a member of the committee throughout the conference to provide your valuable feedback. We will use these suggestions to help shape the programming to meet your needs at the 2019 conference, and we look forward to seeing everyone in sunny Orlando, Florida as we head back to Rosen Shingle Creek. Thank you and enjoy your experience!
