Physical Therapist Kevin Wilk Gluteus Medium Hip Bridges Explanation

Wednesdays with Wilk: the Gluteus Medius Video

In this video, Dr. Kevin Wilk, PT, DPT, FAPTA, demonstrates effective gluteus medius exercises for patients with patellofemeral, ACL, IT band, lower extremity and spine issues. While the gluteus medius is made up of three distinct regions – the anterior, middle and posterior – Dr. Wilk focuses on the posterior fibers, which assist in hip external rotation. Dr. Wilk walks you through exercises like the Bridge, the Side-Lying Clam, Side Plank and Squat. Not only does he explain each exercise in detail and offer modifications and variations, but he shows how you can help patients better understand exercises through activation cuing. If you’re working with patients who need to strengthen the gluteus medius, you don’t want to miss this informative video.
