Types of Wipes
As mentioned above, there are three types of wipes that you should familiarize yourself with.
Disinfectant: These are the most powerful wipes you can purchase. They are typically formulated with an EPA-registered cleaning formula to be effective against common pathogens.1
Typically used on the following surfaces: treatment tables, headrests, phones
Sanitizing: These wipes are great for use in high-traffic areas. They are typically formulated with an FDA-approved cleaning formula to kill or remove germs on surfaces.2
Typically used on the following surfaces: check-in desk, door knobs
Cleaning: These are the lowest level wipe, designed for everyday cleaning needs. Cleaning wipes are formulated to clean and deodorize surfaces while leaving minimal residue.
Typically used on the following surfaces: benches, waiting room chairs

Wipes on the EPA’s List N
This list features a selection of disinfecting products that meet the EPA’s strict criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. To find specific products on List N, you can search by the product’s designated EPA registration number, product name, contact time, formulation type, and more. Before using an EPA-registered disinfectant, be sure to follow the directions as listed on the product label.3
Although disinfectant wipes are EPA registered, that does not mean that they are all listed on List N. When wipes are EPA registered, it simply means that they have a pathogen kill claim—not necessarily one for SARS-CoV-2.
