Kevin Svoboda studied biology and psychology at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and then attended Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Ill., where he earned a degree in physical therapy.
Early in his career, he had the opportunity to manage and direct physical therapist-owned private practice clinics in southeastern Wisconsin. During this time, he provided care to athletes, injured workers, post-operative patients, patients with congenital abnormalities, as well as medically compromised patients. His career progressed by allowing him the opportunity to study health care delivery systems throughout the country by providing patient care and consulting services in Wisconsin, Illinois, Louisiana, Alaska, Arizona and California.
With a desire to return to the Midwest, Kevin took a position of managing outpatient physical therapy and occupational therapy clinics for a physician network of clinics in northwest suburbs of Chicago.
Svoboda then partnered with Wisconsin-based Rehab Management Solutions (RMS). Through this arrangement, he opened his multidisciplinary care private practice in suburban Chicago. This practice focused on providing an integrated approach to health care by uniting multiple disciplines under one roof including the disciplines of medicine, chiropractic, massage therapy, nutrition, acupuncture and athletic training, as well as physical therapy.
Over time, his practice evolved into offering specialty programs focusing on the treatment of conditions including medical weight management, vestibular dysfunction, and an entire spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions. After six years and growing his practice to a point that it could be managed from a distance, Svoboda moved to a full-time leadership role with RMS, where he served as the company’s clinical growth and development director. In this role, he served to guide a nationwide network of private practice physical therapy practices in many areas of management including clinical mentoring, business positioning, specialty programming development, clinical core competency training, compliance with clinical standards and practice growth, all while continuing with his clinical passion by carrying a caseload of patients.
As Kevin was continuing his clinical and administrative career, he was also growing in the area of authoring articles for rehabilitation publications and regularly presenting on health-related and health care management topics. Accelerated Rehabilitation (now Athletico) offerred Kevin a role in helping to grow their footprint in the Midwest by asking him to join their team a director of operations, which he did successfully for several years.
Currently, Kevin is the director of operations for US Physical Therapy in Houston. He oversees the clinical and business operations in a four-state territory of over 80 clinics.
Beyond his work at the clinic level, Kevin continues developing new solutions for rehab professionals in the form of products, educational programming and software.
Svoboda maintains an active relationship with Rosalind Franklin University as a member of its Admissions Review Committee, a guest lecturer for the physical therapy program and involvement College of Health Professions Alumni Association. He is also an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Andrea, and daughters, Clara and Audrey, enjoying an active lifestyle through kayaking, biking, yoga and playing volleyball.
